Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele told a group of students that African-Americans “don’t have a reason” to vote for Republicans. Steele was asked Tuesday night during a speech to roughly 200 students at DePaul University why African-Americans should vote for GOP candidates.

“You really don’t have a reason, to be honest,” Steele responded, as was first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. “We haven’t done a very good job of giving you one.”

For Once I Actually Agree With A Conservative Republican. The GOP Has NOT Given Black Americans A Viable Reason To Support Them, Which Is Sad Because The Republican Party Has Historically Been Supportive Of African-Americans And Their Issues, But Now Doesn’t Think Enough Of Us To Adequately Address Any Of Our Concerns And Trivialize Our Struggles – Straight Up, ‘Republicans Don’t Care About Black People.’

Historically Speaking The Party Was Founded In 1854 By Anti-Slavery Activists With The Slogan Free Labour, Free Land, Free Men & The “Radical Republicans” Led By Abraham Lincoln, Advocated For A Mobile Middle Class That Could Achieve Their Financial Dreams Through Entrepreneurship, Thereby Eventually Eliminating Slavery. The Great Frederick Douglass Even Stated:

I am a Republican, a black, dyed in the wool Republican, and I never intend to belong to any other party than the party of freedom and progress.

Why Is It Then, When We Fast-Forward To Today, We See A Party That No Longer Can Claim The Majority Of The Black Vote? Why Is This Party Been All But Abandoned By Black Folk And Yet Seemingly Doesn’t Notice Or Either Doesn’t Care?

The Reality Of The Situation Is This: The Republican Party Has Decided That Aligning Themselves With The Issues That Affect Black People Is No Longer In Their Best Interest. They Have Decided To Embrace The Buffoonery And Insipid Hatred Spread By Men Like Rush Limbaugh, Instead Of Standing Up And Speaking Out Against His Ignorance. They Have Taken Up To Supporting Crazy Conservative Ideals Like Baring Arms, Supporting The Military-Industrial Complex And Harsh Anti-Immigration Reform.

The black shift to the Democratic Party crystallized under President Franklin Roosevelt. Though FDR won just 23 percent of the black vote in 1932, he subsequently expanded that support with his relief policies. The Depression affected black Americans disproportionately, and programs such as the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Public Works Administration gave them much-needed aid.

Now That The Recession Is Adversely Affecting Black Males, Where Is The Republican Response To Assisting Poor Minorities Of All Races For That Matter?  Where Is The Concern For Our Issues? I Am Not Stating That Issues Affecting Black People Need To Be Disproportionately Managed Over Other People’s Concerns, I Am Stating That Issues Affecting Black People Need To Be Recognized At Least A LITTLE BIT. We Understand Clearly That The Base Of The Party Is Conservative, White People In The South And Midwest, But Why Does That Mean You Will No Longer Advocate For US Too And Speak Out Against The Fringe Group Of Conservatives Who Espouse Racist And Prejudice Ideologies?

If You Want Our Votes Republicans, Its Actually Quite Easy to Get: During The Last Presidential Election in 2008, The GOP And Conservatives Nationwide Put The Onus On Barack And Michelle Obama On Proving How Much They Love Their Country & Making Them Constantly Having To Reiterate Their Dedication And Fondness For The United States. Well Guess What Republicans, It’s YOUR Turn Now. YOU Now Have To Tell US How Much You LOVE Us; How Important OUR Struggle Is To YOU; And Reiterate How Much YOU Will Keep Fighting For Us & Our Issues.

Republicans, You Have Written Off The Necessity Of The Black Vote, Yet You Still Have The Audacity And The BALLS To Accuse us Of Voting For Barack Just Because He’s Black…No We Vote For Barack Because He Actually See’s US As Part Of The “Real America” & Maybe If You Could Do The Same, You Would See A Shift Back To The Party of Free Labour, Free Land & Free Men.

This Is Your Conscience

I do agree that the Republican parrty has not done a good job of attracting African-Americans but I don't believe that AA should be mindlessly voting Democratic either. The Democratic party takes the black vote for granted. People should make informed decisions on their individual candidates and then vote.
