I RARELY if EVER find my way on to Fox News website, but I couldn’t resist this time as they were writing about one of my favourite rappers of all-time, Common, and decided to write this piece of SH*T “article”:

First Lady Michelle Obama has scheduled a poetry evening for Wednesday, and she’s invited several poets, including a successful Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA “Common.” However, Lynn is quite controversial, in part because his poetry includes threats to shoot police and at least one passage calling for the “burn[ing]” of then-President George W. Bush.

The only thing more INFURIATING than the actual “article” – is the fact that MANY of the people defending Common NOW, are the same DOUCHE’S who supported Ashley Judd’s ignant-ass comments a few weeks ago.

On Fox’s site [which I REFUSE to link directly to from my own site] they featured the video below as PROOF that Common is the most niggerish-gun-totin’, gangsta brotha this side of Anderson Silva [Even in his knitted kufi, rainbow socks, choker chain and starving artist corduroys]:

Now I know a lot of Black Folk may want to come up in here and support Common for being such a profound intellect in this rap-game and say that he deserves to be at the White House, but to ANY of you who also co-signed Ashley Judd’s BULLSH*T-ASS statements about hip-hop being nothing more than the soundtrack to rape culture, you should SIT THE F*^K DOWN.

This is a PERFECT example of why I tried to tell people to NOT co-sign Ashley Judd’s ignorance because the far-reaching effects of her negative stereotypes and generalizations would have a negative cross-cultural effect on Black people from ALL different walks of life - hence Common, now being treated like Gucci Mane.

My anger with this situation does NOT like with Fox News because I’m hip to the anti-liberal, anti-Black, anti-intellectual mantra that network holds. Today my frustration rests with those people who co-signed Ashley Judd here [http://www.thisisyourconscience.com/2011/04/27/theres-nothing-wrong-with-being-a-young-black-intellectual-who-only-listens-to-gangsta-rap/] like she is some sort of intellect for equating rap music to ALL that is wrong with the world today. Everyone was ready to get their SHUCK N JIVE on for the Judd family and co-sign her BS, but very few people stood up and spoke out against her own particular brand of PREJUDICE, which is EXACTLY what it was.

So if you follow Judd’s train of thought, then you should inherently believe that Common should NOT be allowed to visit the White House because he IS such an active part of the music that is leading to the degradation of modern day society - YOU can’t have it both ways. The point is very simple, if you are going to speak out against injustice DON’T do it selectively, either keep it real and be consistent or shut the HELL up and stop looking like a flip-flopping hypocrite.

Ladies & Gentlemen, Do YOU Have A Problem With Common Being Invited To The White House For This Poetry Event Or Should He Not Be Allowed There?

Also, DId You Support Ashley Judd Dissing Hip Hop, And If So, Do You Believe Her Comments Should Be Used Against Common In The Court Of Public Opinion By The White House?

  2. Really they invited Common? Eh, he wouldn't exactly make my short list. He is the safest choice though.

I am one who believes hip-hop has had an influence on the black community, however that’s not cosigning Ashley’s statements at all. I think its crazy to say hip hop has not influenced the community when artist A can put a band aid on his face and kids are doing the same to emulate artist A… can we really say that its that far of a stretch for some kids hear artist B speak about how “bitches aint shit” and allow that to influence them also? Did some of he issues they try to saddle hip-hop with exist before Run DMC… YES! But hip-hop to a degree has glorified ignorance and this cannot be denied.

Regarding COMMON, I have no issue with COMMON going to the white house.

  4. kittykalonjicaine

is hip hop THE only genre that has glorified "ignorance" as you call it, or is it being singled out because of its effect on the black community………………

  5. Independent Woman

Lets just call it what it is, rappers shouldn't be at the White House whether it's COMMON or TUPAC or JAY-Z…they all promote(d) violence, misogyny and HATRED throughout our communities and should be held accountable for it.

The nation should respect and revere the White House as an institution above secular, bullshit entertainment acts…SMH

  6. A Grown Ass Man

Common is a great poet and lyricist, I'm not really sure who you could put ahead of him as a viable representative of the Rap genre at the White House.

  7. The_Mad_HATER

but the point is you cant say hip hop has had a negative influence on people and then say common should be allowed in the white house! thats contradictory!

  8. Jason Howe

Wrestlers/Wrestling had kids paralyzing each other in the back yard trying to duplicate stunts they saw. Am I not to watch a movie with The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) because he wrestled? Was I to stand by Oprah when she berated LUDA the actor because of LUDA the rapper? It’s not an either or…

  9. Saul Williams comes to mind first.

  10. The_Mad_HATER

it has to be because thats the way fox news is angling the story and applying pressure on the white house! their take is basically rap = vile so rappers = vile so common = vile rapper!

if we are saying hip-hop is negative then common has no business being there!

  11. The_Mad_HATER

    as who calls it??

  12. The_Mad_HATER

thats such bs and you know it too! not all their works of entertainment should be used against them!

    Andre 3000 > Saul Williams

Having not followed the coverage I am arguing in the dark, I relent.

    Go Dre!

If Easy E can go to the white house so can Common. I have no issues here HOWEVER.

I have an issue with the female fans of Common Sense(yes, Sense) who say he's so positive, sex symbol and sensitive. None of ya'll have ever heard his first album Can I borrow a Dollar where he called you a "heidi hoe" and invited everybody to a party in your mouth…but I digress.

  18. Truthbetold

Where ever there is a black man about to gain some sort of achievement, there will be forces ready to condemn it. Go ahead, it's a new day!
BTW, the only reason why Common would ever consider setting foot on the grounds of an "Institution" responsible for the oppression of black people and the creation of the "ghettos" they rap about is because of the Obama's. I surely hope you're white Miss Independent, cause to consider the white house has an honorable, black people loving institution would be a "niggerish" misconception.
