This isn't just a Republican problem

I was reading a blog post on SingleBlackMale.org and I came across the following statement: “If a black woman is republican she’s either an idiot who doesn’t follow politics or she’s Condoleeza Rice … you don’t want to date either.” Now I clearly assume that was the writer’s attempt at humour, because anyone who would seriously attempt to argue that perspective as a statement of fact or reality is an IDIOT – but the PROBLEM, is that there are too many people who think it’s “Cool” to be anti-Republican without discerning between where ANY parties stand, including their OWN.

Let’s keep it real, since Bush left office and Obama came in, it’s cool nowadays to talk about how STUPID Republicans and their ideologies and policies are, and how fantastic Democrats and their political ideals are – but this way of thinking is not only FOOLISH, it’s intrinsically FLAWED. There are TWO major reasons why solely bashing the Republicans and canonizing the political efforts of the Democrats is simply STUPID: 1) Anyone who consistently follows one party line is probably a gigantic DOUCHEBAG and (2) avoiding in depth analysis of one parties stance to favour another parties stance [which you ALSO didn't investigate] is the HEIGHT of anti-intellectualism.

I go EXTREMELY hard on Republicans on this blog, because they have done A LOT of BS to deserve it [http://www.thisisyourconscience.com/2010/11/03/liberals-have-no-fear-the-republicans-winning-the-house-is-a-good-thing/], but at the same time I go just as hard on Democrats because they have ALSO earned a falcon-punch in the ribcage for the BS they do as well [http://www.thisisyourconscience.com/2010/04/26/dont-be-fooled-barack-obamas-health-care-plan-sucks/]. The reason I go hard on BOTH, is because like anyone who TRULY understands politics, I realize that good AND bad ideals are presented CONSISTENTLY from BOTH sides of the aisle. In the end, the reason most of my current political beliefs may slant towards liberal ideologies comes down to my station in life, and there’s a GOOD possibility that when I’m older, with my own business and a large asset-base, I will vote more Republican. But regardless of where I’m at in my life, I will NEVER toe ANY political party line, because, as a human being with the innate ability to apply logic and reason to any circumstance, I can discern between intelligent policies and flat-out BS.

So when I hear people write, type or say BULLSH*T feeding Anti-Republican sentiments just because they want to appear to be hip or in the political-know, it just rubs me the wrong way and comes off as IGNORANT, faux-intellectualism.

My point can best be described like this:

This Is Your Conscience

Ladies & Gentlemen, Do You Believe In Sticking To ONE Party? And If So, What GANG Are You Repping And Why?

I'm going to have disagree with this one..
    I understand gist of what you're saying that.. do not pre-judge party lines especially without knowing shit about politics…. However, the republican overall agenda indirectly breeds racism, prejudice & greed. Not because they are, but their main political positions creates those thoughts, or attracts people who think that way;

    - Small Government: In other words, limiting all government programs that may help out the less-fortunate, because these equal higher taxes. The idea is that people should fend for themselves, this creates a black & white view on poor people (black & other minorities), or criminals.

    - Deregulation: Ties into small government, Reps want less government control as possible, so the markets can be completely free. But without government control, you get greed, than ultimately disaster (Enron, Financial Meltdon, etc.)

    - Complete Private Healthcare: Health is not product, but it's cause I'm Canadian..

The other thing is, you can't just listen to republican or democrat, because all that talk is just political rhetoric(or in other words BS). You have to cross -check with their past standpoints, and overall party platform. So it makes sense that someone is consistently Republican or Democrat.

Democrats are pretty bullshit too because they have their own sketchy activities trust me, I'm not an Obama dickrider by any means. But when you really look at the party's agenda it lends itself more to a progressive movement of social change.. IMO.

So point.. I listen to all Politicians with scrutiny, but with Republicans I'm 200 times more critical.

Sir Blades, good sir, I can only hope we cross paths in the Big Apple one day *sighs*

One a slightly more serious note, I couldn't agree with you more. I registered independent. I can't say that I whole-heartedly believe/support the ideals of any one party… It boils my blood hot when I hear people that would rather eat their own foot than affiliate themselves with the opposing party, but can't tell me one legitimate reason they belong to the one they're in.

The party system does an excellent job at feeding off our competitive and rivalistic (I may have made that up) natures, but it does a poor job of promoting the importance of depth, not breath <— #seewhatIdidthere

  5. Yeah, I'm going to 120% co-sign with you here. The person I am now can find almost no agreement with any position of the Republican party.

With that being said, though, I have to admit that while I generally vote Democratic, I don't consider myself one. I only view them as the lesser of two evils.

  6. Happy birthday!!!

"However, the republican overall agenda indirectly breeds racism, prejudice & greed."

I gotta No-sign you on that one…MLK was republican amongst many other well respected black folk…it's just that today's republicans mostly stopped caring about the black vote after JFK dominated it..but now that Obama is in office they recruiting black folks back to the republican party like a college football team lol

Down here in the south, people clutch too hard to one party like it's life or death without even checking to see what the party even stands for

    depth not breath? explain!

  11. Drgray91

There are a great deal of politicians using a lot of breath, never really saying much at all…it might sound good, but when the smoke and mirrors clear what are you left with?

You can always sell an idea, but if there isn't anything deeper then I will always just be an idea.

Democrats use to be racist too tho: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mveHL3n_4ME/TEJzu35t4rI...

    Quotes by famous democratic leaders:

"I think one man is just as good as another so long as he's honest and decent and not a nigger or a Chinaman."

    - Harry Truman

"I'll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years."

    - Lyndon B. Johnson

Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."

    Senator Robert Byrd

“They mention that he once had a fleeting association with the Ku Klux Klan, and what does that mean? I’ll tell you what it means. He was a country boy from the hills and hollows of West Virginia. He was trying to get elected."

Bill Clinton defending Byrd's KKK membership

    +1!

  17. Alex of Liveagl.com

I think you're missing the point here, I never said republicans are racist, and democrats are not.. or vice versa.. A lot white people were racists..no matter the party.. I am saying, from the Official Republican positions (as in prev comment), can breed those type of thoughts…..

= "Fend for yourself": breeds sweeping pre- judgement on the less fortunate and minorities.. ie: "poor people need to figure their shit out"

= Less Government regulation: breeds greed ie: corporations generating revenue with no monitoring from the government…

= Privatized Healthcare: Again breeds greed, ie: making money on people who are suffering healthwise..

and that's why I..(AS IN THE COMMENT ABOVE).. I am critical of republicans, not dismissive.

"1) Anyone who consistently follows one party line is probably a gigantic DOUCHEBAG"
That is the main point I disagree with because, its actually more logical to follow party lines instead of being swayed by political leaders who use rhetoric to seduce people
