[Ed. Notes] As we all know the NFL season is slowly coming to an end, and now that the NBA has resolved SOME of their labour issues, it’s time to start giving a damn about Kobe, Lebron, Durant and them other big-headed negroes. These weekly reviews will be brought to you courtesy of our NBA contributor, Porsha Melcher [ain't a DAMN thing more attractive than a woman who knows sports]. And thankfully Porsha is a diehard NBA fan and great writer – so read on and enjoy.

Noteable Thoughts

Miami Heat:

They should win it all this is their time, now the question is will they win or self destruct. With the legit comments Bosh made it could cause some tension in the locker room, but I don’t think that will be an issue. The big issue will be Wade’s health, if he breaks down they won’t win, sorry.

Orlando Magic:
While the days continue to drag along as we await whether or not Howard is traded, one thing is clear. Ryan Anderson is balling out of his mind and nobody is really paying attention, but you should because he could be a huge part of their success as well as a featured piece in the imminent trade. Let’s be honest Orlando should make a move now while they can get something in exchange to avoid being the 2012 Cavaliers.

Black Mamba:

Let me reiterate Kobe is the best player in the league, he has a killer instinct and is going psycho out there dropping 40 and doing work. Also he does make players around him better, just look at what has become of Lamar Odom in Dallas. Playing through injuries is critical as well as shooting almost 50 percent while taking 30 shots a game. Now some will argue Lebron and I will say overall talent and athleticism, yes he is the best but his tendency to miss key freethrows and shy away from taking over a game since he has been in Miami isn’t good at all. Just answer this if the game is on the line who do you trust to either make the shot or get fouled then convert the fts?

Key Games of The week

Celts vs Mavs
While this game didn’t really bring any excitement a few things had to be noted, these teams are getting older by the minute and its more apparent now than ever. The Mavs are worse than they were a year ago and letting Butler, Barrea, Stevenson, and Chandler walk will bite them in the butts sooner than later. I mean Vince was the man but like 50 said “damn homie in highschool you were the man home, wth happened to you?” Plus Lamar Kardashian looks so uninterested in being in the big d and looks like he wish he was going going back back to cali cali, but he isn’t so deal with it. Jesus Shuttlesworth is still good but at this point we are in countdown mode until the big three hangs it up. KG is no longer menacing and scares nobody in the paint except Walker who he choked back on Jesus’ birthday. When Rondo is your main scorer and no disrespect to him, but Houston we have more than a problem. These are aging teams and father time is undefeated.

Heat v Clippers

Never thought a day would come where I looked forward to seeing the Clippers play but hey things happen. First off the Paul trade falling through set the Lakers back 10 years if they don’t land a big player to play with Kobe just watch. Anyways “Lob City” is exciting and thrilling, but who cares if you don’t win big games. So what if you are always on Sports Centers top plays if you picked up another L in the process, thats like winning the lotto only to blow your money it doesn’t mean much now does it. Paul is clearly a great player and a top pg in the league so this automatically makes this team better than it was before, but time will tell if they can compete. The Heat were one of the steps towards proving that. Paul and Blake will play hard, but will Butler be consistent and Billups jack up shots.Deandre needs to stop looking for a lob all the time and play solid D as well as stay out of foul trouble. Congrats on the big win in OT to the Clippers now prove me wrong.

Knicks v Grizzlies
Quiet as it is kept the Knicks have a lot of work to do defensively. They have looked less than impressive and tonight was another display of that. Even though adding Chandler did help address the defensive issues that were present it doesn’t change the fact that the D’antoni system isn’t defensively oriented. Granted Melo went down with an ankle injury, but the Grizz don’t have Zach so this was their chance to add a win and they couldn’t. It could be an affect of the condensed schedule but honestly the Knicks have a lot of work to do because losing to sub par teams isn’t good at all. Let’s face it Melo is the only bright spot on this team so far. The Grizz are a bipolar team and it’s confusing to try to determine what direction they are headed in or if last year was just a fluke.

Magic v Warriors

Dwight put up 48 and while that was great, the bigger story is how the Warriors looked. The addition of Nate Robinson especially in the wake of losing Stephen Curry (who has styrofoam ankles) will be helpful now and even when Curry returns. Before the season started I believed that the Warriors can make the playoffs as a 7 or 8th seed. Now the Magic looked ok but honestly they peaked with that team that went to the finals in ’09 and I think prematurely breaking that team up destroyed any chances they had at being a legit contender. We are just counting down until Otis trades Dwight for the right deal, so until then we will watch them play mediocre games.

Celtics v Bulls

Honestly I don’t know what more can be said about the Celtics that hasn’t been said already so I’ll focus on the Bulls. Rose is the man and if you don’t believe it go check the footage. He carries that team sometimes too much, but with addition of a much improved 3 point shot he looks very confident shooting the jumper as he does slashing to the basket. If they can get Boozer to play like he is worth the money they paid him and RIP can score by constantly moving and using screens they will be legit. Last year they were missing a solid sg and I thought Jamal Crawford would’ve been a perfect fit but RIP will have to do.

Disclaimer: First off I am a huge Spurs fan and well we are done raising banners for a while and Kobe is the best player in the game, sorry I will not apologize for saying it.

Ladies & Gentlemen, What Are YOUR Thoughts On This NBA Season So Far??

  2. Pe. Riche.

Yes, Kobe is indeed the best player in the game, and I am not a Lakers fan. Facts are facts.

And honestly, while D. Howard has some great moments, I don't find him to be very consistent. The dude has Patrick Ewing working one-one-one with him, and he still manages to act very immature. I think he has amazing potential, but to be as dominant as Shaq was, Howard has a great deal of work ahead of him. There is no reason, with his size, that he shouldn't be able to score in the paint 99% of the time. Plus, I think Orlando was better when they had Rafer Alston as pg.

The Celtics began their decline when they let Perkins go. I still don't understand what management was thinking with that one. And you are right; when your point guard is scoring all of the points, then that just spells disaster. At this point, the Celtics need a major roster overhaul.

And Miami and James are doing what they do best; dominate in the regular season with amazing stats, and spectacular dunks. BUT, I don't ever see the Miami offense actually running any real plays. But I bet you, when it comes to the playoffs, they are going to choke like they always do.

The Bulls are like the ideal team at this moment. And in true fashion, they tend to over use their star player. I think Noah still needs some work, but when he is on, he is damn near unstoppable.

Thank you SO much for this NBA post. I think I just got a little wet ;-)

bleah. kobe's the best. i'm the tallest person in my building…i live in chinatown by the way. bun kobe. as well as he's playing he'll eventually sabotage and poison his team because that's the kind of mamba he is. besides, he's just about as likely to shoot his team into a game as he is to shoot them out of it. if kobe's the only claim to the throne, i move that we leave the title vacant. rewarding that kind of guy sends the wrong message about what's good in life.

d-ho is a glorified dikembe motombo…without the cookie monster voice and the cool finger wave.

you are right about the bulls. but i would be mad at all if they trade boozer. al jeffereson would look great in the old black and red.

  8. grandgryph

the knicks aren't a good team, really. sir charles said so,

  11. Derrick

watched the game on the net :)

  12. Derrick

as long as they don't meet my Magic I'm cool

  13. Pe. Riche.

"d-ho is a glorified dikembe motombo…without the cookie monster voice and the cool finger wave. "

FUNNY! But, oh so true. Motombo was all hype when he was in the league, and managed to do a whole bunch of nothing.

  14. HerCommonSense

I hate to agree with you on this but you're right

  15. Jason

Naw Mutombo did what he did, rebounded and protected the rim… howard is a bit better on offense and that is about it.

  16. Jason

Dude you always saying something to make me laugh… cookie monster, lol

  17. Derrick

I relate to Chuck because he tells it like it is and a lot of times it's what I'm thinking.

Side note: Shaq is a great personality but he just doesn't fit in. Everything seems forced. I prefer Chris Webber.

  18. grandgryph

they should have had them sing a duet
