Like many people who follow politics or even just try to stay current on what’s up with Barack Obama, I saw the picture of Arizona’s Republican Gov. Jan Brewer sticking her frowsy-finger directly in Barack Obama’s face like a pissed-off Principle disciplining one of her troublemaking students in detention. The picture is especially enraging because of the total lack of respect and reverence it shows she has not just for a man [a Black one at that], but for the President of the United States of America. It gets even MORE enraging when you realize that she is the Governor of the state behind some of the most racist anti-immigration legislation in the entire country.
For those of you who haven’t seen the photo and aren’t aware of her “anti-illegals” stance, check the video below:
Finger-pointing aside, one of the most DISGUSTING parts of that video is where she is interviewed at the end and manages to refer to “Incarceration” in an attempt to paint an entire group with a copiously sized brush. This chick basically said “Them damn Mexicans need to stay in Mexico and stop coming here to cause trouble and leaving us with the financial burden of finding a jail cell to throw their frowsy asses into!” Besides the fact that it’s an off the cuff BULLSH*T remark, the most troubling part of it is that it’s a direct revelation of how Republicans have SOLD OUT immigrants in a hypocrisy-laced campaign that would make Judas blush.
What’s the hypocrisy you ask? Well a commenter on HuffPo named “outlandish” said it best:
“Various business interests that rely on abundant and cheap labour have always favoured lax immigration policies that ignored massive illegal immigration. Those interests have historically been represented by the Republican Party. Only recently has the GOP decided to use immigration as another inflammatory issue to arouse certain segments of their base.
Immigration more than any other issue highlights the scope and shamelessness of Republican hypocrisy: they allow decades of illegal immigration for the benefit of the Party’s business patrons, generating enormous burdens for our schools and healthcare systems, then they ridicule schools and the social safety net and demonize immigrants (contrary to Karl Rove’s advice among others) by creating a preposterous myth about illegal immigrants stealing elections for Democrats. “
And THAT comment perfectly sums up the issue. The same “illegals” the Republican party is demonizing are the same “illegals” we allowed to work in our thriving economies so we could maximize our profit margins, and also are the same “illegals” we allowed to work in our failing economies so we could reduce overhead. It’s these same “illegals” that we welcomed into the country to do the jobs we don’t want at a pay rate Americans wouldn’t even consider touching [the "Functional Underclass"]. We collectively turned our heads to allow them to exist in our society, but now that the winds of racist change have blown and immigration has become a hot button issue amongst Conservative Republicans, it’s time to ask those same “illegals” ‘Who said YOU can come HERE? And who the hell said YOU can STAY?”
Actually, we ALL did.

Ladies & Gentlemen, What Are YOUR Views On Illegal-Immigration?
Also, Is It Just Me Or Have People Let Their Racist Dislike Of Obama Affect How Much They Are Suppose To Truly RESPECT The Office Of The President?

most hypocrisy is a sophisticated opportunism. but there's a larger psycho-economic pattern playing itself out.
criminalising the mexicans keeps the labour cheap and exploitable while denying them electoral privileges and clout. same thing happened to the irish and italians.
like those groups, they will fight for their rights, eventually win them and be rabidly loyal to america and its principles. largely because they invested and sacrificed so much.
i doubt republicans are really as racist as they seem. they are just very, very good and making america's 'natural' racism and race-politics work for them. remember it was the republicans that 'freed the slaves' and set-up the 'freedmen's bureau' to destabilise the south and insult those southern aristocrats.
this is a similar thing. they are just promoting attitudes that will make domestic labour cheap and accessible for as long as possible.

I live in Southern California (South LA to be exact) and this issue comes up all the time. I'm all for a tough immigration policy, but I think there should be certain measures set up for illegal aliens that have been here for a number of years and established themselves… Not sure on how many years, but that would be an idea.
As for cheap labor, they could go back to implementing guest worker programs if need be (many years ago we had the Bracero Program in CA)… or… Just wait, they could hire Americans, pay them living wages, and be forced to obey labor laws. They would go to making a sh!tload of money to just an assload. When it comes to immigration laws, the US is extremely lax. If we were to simply adopt the laws that are found with our neighbors to the south of us, folks would call them draconian at best. As long as there is so much violence in border cities, filing schools, and strained social programs, this is going to remain an issue.
I also agree that the Republicans are hypocritical when it comes to the issue of immigration, but so are the Dems. They wave amnesty in front of them like a carrot on a stick, all in the hopes that they'll be able to garner votes from them.

As for the treatment of Obama by the media, I honestly think Jan Brewer was just trying to makr a scene. She just came out with a book and that pic just boosted her sales. Do some of the criticisms of Obama have racist undertones? Yes… Is EVERY criticism about him racist? No… It's just easy for Dems to deflect attention from Obama's shortcomings with the cry of racism.

Republicans are the ones who created this modern day illegals witch hunt so they rightfully should get the blame for their hypocrisy, even if the democrats have benefited from illegals in the past.
