Makin' It RAIN All Up In Dis' B*tch!

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: This is not an anti-capitalist rant. This is not a pro-socialist rant [despite any pic below]. This is not a social-engineering rant in which I believe everyone needs to view life just like me or else. This is not an anti-hustle rant. This is not an anti-success rant. This is not a typical left-wing attack on the wealthy rant. Hell, this is not even really a rant against placing the importance of money over A LOT of things [obviously it's a NECESSITY in a capitalist society]. But if you feel the innate need to put this rant into an easily definable box [which you shouldn't], then you can call this a Proper Perspective rant.

It was June 12th, 2011, and I had just an interesting ass day participating in a brunch panel discussion with great Black leaders here in Toronto and I was feelin’ myself that day because the event went well – but what I was REALLY happy about was the fact that me and my boy were about to watch Game 6 of the NBA Finals and [hopefully] see Dirk win the ring he so deserved by bouncing the frowsy heat out of the playoffs. The game was actually kind of unremarkable at the end and Dallas ended up winning, while Lebron proved his game was only worth 75 cents because he could never find a fourth quarter. But the fact that the LOADED Miami Heat didn’t win the game wasn’t the shocking part – it was the BULLSH*T this dude said RIGHT AFTER:

Actually let me correct myself, the most shocking thing was the reactions I heard from people ALL over my Twitter and Facebook which essentially was: “Yeah nigga, tell these broke-ass bastards to stop hating!” This ALARMED me for no other reason than I actually have 1 MAYBE 2 self-made millionaires on my friends lists out of the tens of THOUSANDS I’m connected with on my multiple social networking sites – and it WASN’T any of them saying that sh*t. So basically his comments weren’t being co-signed by Mitt Romney, it was being co-signed by the SAME broke, barely-ballin’ people who had to get their ass to sleep early to be up in the morning to go to the same frowsy job they hate – or the SAME people Lebron just sh*tted on.

That made ABSOLUTELY no sense to me, but it did remind me of a great John Steinbeck quote:

Forget the socialist part, the real brilliance behind that quote is the fact that much too many of us believe that money is not just a necessary asset, but we believe it is a wholly encompassing indicator of one’s value OVER others in society. F*^K how smart you are, loving you are, creative you are, brilliant you are or charitable you are - if you ain’t gettin’ that GWAP then you ain’t worth a DAMN. And I see this on EVERY entertainment blog I visit, there’s always some DOUCHEBAG who feels the need to inject the “[insert celebrity here] is ballin’ so you broke sons-of-b*tches need to shut the hell up!” thought, which goes a step beyond simply being annoying and enters into the realm of complete IGNORANCE.

It’s THAT same mentality that has IDIOTS filling my Facebook timeline with statuses like [FYI: these are NOT my creation - these all are actual copy-and-pasted]:

“I hate broke people! If you ain’t sitting in first class just take the bus and save yourself the embarrassment!! #JustSayin”

“Before you tell me with you think, please show me how much you make. #NoCountryForBrokeNegroes”

“What I look like trying to be nice and dating a dude who makes less than me? Love ain’t buying trips to Dubai!”

Here’s the reality of the situation you IDIOT, having a lot of money is a goal for ALL of us, but to use someones financial status as grounds to elevate them amongst the masses in every conceivable measurable context is RIDICULOUS because as crazy as it may seem to you, there are actually some things in life more important than money. The funny thing is that most people who are ACTUALLY wealthy are very aware of that – but it’s the WANNABES who make it rain with their two-week salary and look down upon everyone else because they feel their funds elevate their intrinsic self-worth.

But more importantly, THAT ain’t YOU. YOU ain’t rich and you definitely ain’t CLOSE to being wealthy. In fact, the 29.7 million people in the world who have household net worths of $1 million represent LESS than 1% of the world’s population. Not only are you FAR from being in that class in today’s economy but the chances you will EVER get there is slim to none. But that doesn’t mean you and others in your socioeconomic class ain’t worth a damn. It means if you want to live a happy and productive life you may want to consider putting your priorities in a proper prospective because with or without MILLIONS you can just be as happy or depressed as you are BROKE.

And here’s the funny part about these money-obsessed losers – they may not be the first to get it, but they are always the FIRST to lose it.

Ladies & Gentlemen, Do You Agree That People Who Elevate Financial Status Over All Are IDIOTS Or Are They Simply REALISTS?

  2. geturfundageup

Ok, I get you my dude. But honestly, it's these women who have us chasing this gwap.
I love money. Why? Because I love girls. More money = the better-looking girl you can get.

  3. Ess

    Well said. Well agreed with.

  4. Cinnamon

I won't even dignify that with a response.

  5. geturfundageup

"I won't even DIGnify that with a response."

but I bet you'd let me "dig" you out if my paper was right.

    #b*****sareallthesame

  6. you just responded.

  7. J.P.

    lol

  8. MistaHarsh

Its an act of deflection. Lebron doesn't want to address his apparent shortcommings so he reverts to point out how broke people are. Nowadays a lot of people do that. "you're broke so what can you tell me?" and it works most of the time because only 1% can say "Yes I AM rich so YOU shut the fack up!"

Another thing, most people who don't have money think it solves everything that's why they put the paper on a pedestal but people who have money know first hand that it doesn't solve internal issues or conflicts and they find out its really overated.

    nice post!

The only thing having money solves is the problem of not having money. For all the money person has, it can't fix their brokeness inside.

  11. J.P.

I have to agree with this. You can have all the money in the world but it ain't going to make you happy.

  12. geturfundageup

Why not? Because you know it's true?
I've never met one girl (except for the one that broke my heart) that's a DIME that isn't in it for the money.

All these other chicks are only about what they can get. Makes me sick!

That's why I tell my boys that the size of your wallet determines what type of girl you should pursue. If you want a dime be ready to spend $ and lots of it. I've decided that I'm going with a seven or lower. Why? Because no women is worth it IMO. I wouldn't give my left nut to some of these h**s lol

  13. It's so funny because a few years ago I was having a conversation with a Soror of mine about my "standards" for men. As I said before on this site, education is at the top. My Soror looked at me with distaste and said "So you won't date a guy with no degree or an Associates? He may make more money that you. Pffh!"…. My response was simply, "who said anything about money?"

People live in this world where money determines worth. There are tons of other things that contribute to someone's worth. i mean shit, if we're going to attach self-worth and esteem to money, what happens when we lose our jobs? or get injured and can't pay bills? Are we full of ain't shit at that point? WTF folks gonna do when they encounter a situation that money can't fix?

  18. geturfundageup

Honestly I don't know what's come over me recently. This isn't me.

  19. Richard

I went to the site and it says "Sorry, "truthallday.org" does not exist or could not be found"

    Now I get it lol

    nice mouth!

  21. Kam

Just like your choice in photo I find your logic questionable. Not everyone can be bought maybe the ones you seek but not every girl. Just b/c a guy has money doesn't ensure that the girl will get any especially in this individualistic society where it's all about you and not others. What I preache for these girls is to be self reliant ( and I'm not talking about being im independent I dont need anybody attitude) but get your education and secure a good career.

In regards to this post the people who say "I'm rich you can't tell me nothing" are deflectors. These people point out someone else's short comings instead ofaddressing their own. Since a lot of people equate self importance to either social standing or money thats usually what these low brow people would attack first.

  22. Concrete_Rose

    Agreed

  23. Concrete_Rose

Woww so attractive ppl are shallow people that you think can be bought at any value. SMH riiiiight!

  24. Concrete_Rose

Or more money = more power

  25. Concrete_Rose

    Hahaha I like that

  26. MistaHarsh

    damn beat me to it

  27. MistaHarsh

    whats that Chris Rock Line:
You can lose a lot of money chasing women….but you'll never lose women chasing money.

    chuuuch

  28. Richard

I wouldn't really say more power. The only people you'd have power over are those who live by that same equation.

  29. MistaHarsh

I get your point but in society we are viewed as full of shit if we lose our job or can't pay our bills.

The amount of people who shun others who are dependent(even if its temporary) is a shame.

  30. geturfundageup

That’s what society tells us. I guess I just fed into that. It's difficult seeing in media that the guy with money always gets the hottest girls. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule but look at NBA players. Most of their wives are Dimes. They met most of these women as ball players and they knew he'd be bringing home a heavy paycheck. I see most of those women as shallow.

  31. sonicmel

    smh!

  32. Concrete_Rose

Ok. I'm not refutin that there aren't a lot of gold diggers out there. But also you got to cross check and see how much of what the media shows is in reality how people are. And the media only shows you primarily ppl in showbiz. There are beautiful ppl everywhere, but they aren't always paraded and showcased. And with that mindset that money will get you that trophy wife is what a lot of them do. Don't get caught up in that fictitious life thinking everything you see there is real

  33. Richard

I would prefer an up and down motion.

Shaking wouldn't really work for me

  34. Concrete_Rose

But I'm not talking in a relationship type of way. In general, money talks. Ppl look after themselves and whoever else they prioritize in their life. Money allows you to override a lot of things that the typical average American can't do. The best medicine goes to ppl who are paid. Justice system all types of flawed between ppl the have and have nots. Schools, opportunities everything. All that is both privilege and power to me

  35. Richard

    and I like your picture ; )

  36. I wanna start rappin' "Money, Power, and Respect" for the sake of this blog, I'll be Kim.

  37. Richard

I agree that money allows you to do certain things like look after people and creates more opportunities but I wouldn't consider it power. You have the power to make people do what you want but is having "power" something you aspire to? I see power like a boss at work ordering you to do something.

    #idontknow

  38. Paul B.

WTF folks gonna do when they encounter a situation that money can't fix?

Get depressed, drink, smoke, snort away their money and probably commit suicide.

  39. Richard

    Too easy lol

  40. Jhon

Guess what your all a bunch of sick brain washed fucks, gold diggers shallow women that want everything done for them and use there looks to get free rides loool rott in FUCKING HELL LOL AND BURN GOOD REAL GOOD so i say to you all poor and rich ENJOY WHILE STILL IN THE FLESH BECAUSE LIFE IS SHORT AND DEATH AND HELL IS FOREVER GO FUCK YOURSELVS
