I am a full-time, unflinching, over-the-top Whitney Houston STAN. I LOVE her more than any other entertainer that’s EVER graced God’s green Earth and she was the only entertainer that I can willingly sacrifice my logic and common sense to defend. Ever since I was child, the love I’ve had for her has been consistent from the day I first heard her up until her untimely death Saturday, February 11, 2012. Whitney’s death has filled many of us with sadness, and although you don’t need to be a STAN to be grieved, I definitely ain’t trying to hear nor see any crocodile tears from the losers who never wished her well.

The day Michael Jackson died was a very interesting day for me, mostly because I was able to observe the oddity of human behaviour in the face of death. MJ was a man that was the butt of damn near EVERY pedophile joke you can imagine, he was castigated continually by the sometime-ish members of his fan base and even his friends and family, and he was treated like a social leper for almost two damn decades – until he died and everyone started choking back tears doing the moonwalk in the office cafeteria. To those people who act like that – GO F*^K YOURSELVES. As a big fan and supporter of Whitney Houston, your flip-flop fandom is NOT appreciated and makes you look like a self-serving DOUCHEBAG.

Regardless of how you feel about celebrities, they are people too, and they are not so far removed that they can’t feel the slings and arrows of negativity. YOUR negativity. Whitney Houston, like MJ, had some very troubled years where she needed real support, love, encouragement and positivity – but instead got ridiculed for who she decided to love/date, scorned for the mistakes she made and ridiculed by self-righteous DOUCHEBAGS who criticized her as if THEY never had any inner demons to battle with in their own lives. Hell, up until last Thursday when she was spotted out with Ray-J, people were going in on her. Go check your favourite celebrity gossip blog if you think I’m lying. I’m not trying to take any moral high ground here, but as someone who has always REFRAINED from dissing Whitney, I have NO respect for those of you who did, and feel like you need to switch up now just to be socially acceptable.

I don’t care if you believe in heaven or not, the reality is when she was HERE to actually hear and take in YOUR comments, you either chose to be negative or positive, and if you were negative throughout her life, just save your positive reaffirming BULLSH*T because she can’t hear you now – and it doesn’t even matter because she’s finally resting in PEACE anyways.

And it’s also disgustingly insulting to hear some of you clowns blaming Bobby Brown for her death. Those of you who do that, not only have NO clue about the responsibilities of being an ADULT, but you have NO CLUE about what made Whitney so successful at everything she did: Her work ethic, determination and resolve. Whitney was not some little pop-princess, she was a STRONG BLACK WOMAN who knew no other way to go about things than to give 100%. The problem with people like that is when they are affixed on a positive situation, they win big, but if the situation is negative, they lose big. She made her own decisions and although many of us disagree with some of them [as I do] they defined the good and bad parts of her life, just as YOURS define your OWN life.

The reality of the situation is that we lost, in my opinion, the greatest live singer in the history of modern music. We lost the real embodiment of a true Diva. In Seinfeld, when that woman told Elaine “you can’t have a little grace, you either have it or you DON’T!” she could have easily been talking about Whitney Houston, because she DEFINITELY had it.

Diva

One of the best comments I’ve ever read about her since her death was:

“This, ladies and gentlemen, is what you call a Singer. 170 Million records sold, fully clothed. Learn It.”

The saddest part of losing Whitney Houston is knowing there will never, EVER, be another talent to even come close to replacing her.

Ladies & Gentlemen, What Are YOUR Thoughts On Whitney Houston's Life And Death?

Also, DO YOU Think Bobby Deserves Blame? Why Or Why Not?

  2. Pe.Riche.

"“This, ladies and gentlemen, is what you call a Singer. 170 Million records sold, fully clothed. Learn It.”

That is the BEST comment about The Voice I have heard! Especially these newer "singers", they need to take note. Whitney didn't sell 170 million singles, or 170 million ringtones. No. 170 million RECORDS. Who does that now? Not a damn soul.

And she is absolutely, the greatest vocalist of all time. There will never be another like her. And if there is, it most certainly will not be during our lifetime.

Her voice sold 170 million. Not her behind. Not cliches. Not filth. Her voice. Yeah, we lost a very rare talent indeed.

Listen. Great article. Everyone has their own opinion and in my own opInion Bobby was to blame! He came into this woman's life to Use and abuse her. She was in a good place before the devil came into her life. He was jealous if her career as HE introduced her to drugs! Drugs is what put Whitney through such turbulance and why up to this day she was struggling with depression. When u love someone love makes you do crazy things you never thought you would do. He took advantage of that. The first bag of cocaine Whitney smoked, bobby gave it to her. The bag of cocaine Whitney smoked aftwr being clean for 6 months, bobby gave that to her. That is what ultimately led to her downfall. RIP Whitney.

Her songs knock at your heart! She was phenomenal!

My thoughts are that it is extremely sad. The pressures and access to substances being a huge star of her magnitude can become too much to carry sometimes. I wish that she had someone from her management, her inner circle, family, etc; who could have helped inspire her shine and motivate her to push past her demons. But truthfully, who knows? Maybe she did have a few, but she wasn't ready to fight these demons. It's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel when you are going through a really rough time, and even though we can't see it by losing her in the music industry…she is now at peace.

Bobby isn't to blame. They broke up years ago and she has more than enough financial means to get herself clean and get counseling. The drug abuse were choices of her own and no one forced them into her body. Ya…maybe he wasn't a "good guy" for her in the past, but we weren' t in their relationship to fully see the joy and the reasons why she stayed with him and was in love with him for that long. We cannot place that weighht of her death on his head. He wasn't present during her death and it's disgusting for us to point the finger like we are holier than thou.

If your ex died, how would you feel knowing that there are millions out there who will be judging you and pointing the finger at you b/c you two split and you made some mistakes in the past? Even though they are in the public eye, they are humans too and us placing the blame on the fact that he may have/may not introduced her to drugs will not bring her back nor honor her death.

    Linc,

BULLS EYE! Well spoken and so on point!

IMO, she was the GREATEST artist, songstress and communicator of LOVE SONGS… of ALL TIME!

  11. MistaHarsh

While everything you wrote may be true, the one thing you DIDN"T and CAN"T write is that "Bobby Forced Whitney to take drugs" Until you can say that you are selling wolf tickets…

  12. Bruhman

    Breh,

    What about Beyonce??

I think Bey could outsing Whitney!

  13. Bruhman

I don't know breh…Bobby didn't have to do her like that

  14. Bruhman

But Bobby didn't have to do her like that…he was jealous and tried to destroy her career

  15. BoomBam

    No, Bey would oversing Whitney.

  16. MistaHarsh

Because radio/TV stopped playing music like Whitney's I've been out of sight out of mind with her music. The Greatest love of all was my fav song and her voice was truly beautiful. I read some biography where they said she was booed at a soul train awards because people thought she was too pop and straying away from her roots(whether it be racial or church roots) and as a result some people believed her linking up with Bobby Brown(who had a successful bad boy image at that time) was a direct response to those critics….

Now I hope this was not true. Even the booing at the awards(at prime of her 80s career) is hard to believe but if it IS true, all you people blaming Bobby B have it all wrong, you really should blame YOURSELVES.

  17. Bruhman

How you know that??? Beyonce is a great damn singer!

  18. HerCommonSense

Great comment…absolute truth too. I don't even think the album sales matter, but I think her unbelievable voice is what makes her so incredible.

  19. HerCommonSense

They are both great talents but I think to compare them comes down to a matter of personal preference…they are both great.

  20. HerCommonSense

I also think her acting ability is underrated as well. I loved her in Preachers Wife.

  21. HerCommonSense

I actually read in an interview that Whitney Houston had a bit of a wild streak when she was younger and thats actually what attracted her to Bobby. They were both doing some "dirt" before they got together.

  22. HerCommonSense

Her fashion sense, musical genius and stage presence will never be duplicated. She was amazing.

  23. HerCommonSense

The unfortunate part of your comment is that it is all conjecture.

  24. HerCommonSense

I saw a performance with him crying on stage after hearing she died and he was clearly saddened. I think we need to not be so hard on him.

  25. HerCommonSense

I actually read somewhere that she had her own bad girl antics before she ever met Bobby. I think in the old days (80's) we didn't know a lot about celebrities personal lives so it was easier for them to be bad and not end up known all over the world for what they were doing.

  26. cynicaloptmst81

    Thank you.

Don't let the image fool you…Whitney was NOT squeeky clean prior to Bobby. That was not her first introduction to drugs.

  27. Vicky

    No WAY!!!!!

  28. HerCommonSense

I think people love Whitney so much, that they don't want to picture her dealing in drugs, sex and alcohol on her own accord. Bobby is no saint but I definitely feel that he's been vilified.

  29. ATLienSince82

I look at Beyonce like a technically correct singer, but Whitney was technically correct with a lot of soul and flare…something we may never see again

  30. ATLienSince82

You think anyone could outsing Whitney??

  31. MistaHarsh

"I feel nothing when beyonce sings"

Although I agree with you taking my male bias out of the equation. based on what I see TODAY you are the minority.

  32. MistaHarsh

    170 mil seems low…I thought it was 500 mill? Maybe that's worldwide…

  33. MistaHarsh

    Patti Labelle

But I see the angle you're coming from…

  34. MistaHarsh

Damn did you think he would do the splits and perform On Our Own? He was married to her and has a daughter with her too of course he's saddened….

  35. MistaHarsh

But then that makes you wonder why it was so important for people to know that a bad side existed and to embrace it? Where I'm from if people say you're a goodie two shoes some people will start telling on themselves just to prove that they're not <———-When did that become the thing to do?

What bad girl antics are you referring to exact? I hope not Jaywalking…

No one's saying that Whitney was or had to be perfect but she wouldn't get more points from me if she was horribly flawed…

  36. Vicky

You cannot compare Whitney to Bey! Yes, Bey is an entertainer, and she's got a voice but I cannot put them in the same category. Bey is not one of "the greats" in my mind – Popular, yes – But she ain't no Whitney

  37. stop with this personal preference cop out please. a ferrari is faster than a corvette. whitney's a ferrari, and i'm not sure that b's a vette.

  38. Kizzy

Oh please!!! You don't know what you're talking about!

Bobby took a perfectly good woman and ruined her! All addicts have a dealer and Bobby was her personal dealer!! He used her love and trust against her!

  39. Kizzy

And how the heck do you know??? Were you there with Whitney when she took her hits with or without Bobby??? I think it's not a good idea to spread rumours about the dead! SMH

  40. Kizzy

    Link?????????

  41. Kizzy

    EXACTLY

  42. Kizzy

All of you saying Bobby isn't responsible for her death are assholes! He completely destroyed her and took her from being a legendary icon to a crackhead!! I will forever hate Bobby for this!!

  43. Vicky

We cannot blame Bobby for her decisions! She was a grown ass woman who unfortunately fell to temptation. I'm sure Bobby didn't sit there with an AK-47 to her head telling her to smoke/snort the crap. Bad decisions made out of being blinded by love.

It is unfortunate to have lost her at only 48 years old. There are reports that there was not any illegal drugs at the scene. For all we know, she mixed her prescription with alcohol which seems to be the joke to many celebs/athletes.

I don't want to hear, Bobby did this, Bobby did that. How many women do you know who have risen above the abusive relationships in their past? She is not the first nor the last….obviously she did have more pressure on her being a celeb and all. But they have all the money in the world to get properly treated and they resort to the quick fix of drugs (prescription or not).

  44. BoomBam

    +1

  45. Kam

Based on today where the people getting the number one hits are either singing about b*tches , hoes and money then yeah if you feel something from beyonce when majority of the music is shallow then I can see why

But make no mistake people you feel something when singing TODAY (for me) is Alicia Keys and Adele ( that girl came and sang something real)

  46. Vicky

Then I'm an asshole and proud!

  47. Kizzy

What it sounds like you are doing is blaming the victims! So it's women's fault they get beat and can't leave their abusive men and it's addicts faults they have an addiction and not the dealers?? I can't rock with that!

Even if Whitney did stuff before him, let's be real and say that her downfall started after Bobby! Be real!

  48. Kizzy

    SMH!!

  49. Vicky

You sound like the type who doesn't take responsibility for your actions, blaming everything on someone else.

No where did I say that it's the victims fault so please do not put bullshit words in my mouth – and she did leave him finally after 15 years of marriage in 2007!

  50. cynicaloptmst81

Umm…the same way you know what you know. Unless you have something to share, you weren't there to see what did or didn't go down either. Which makes you a "fill in the blank with whatever names you have for everyone else" for spreading rumors. Besides, Whitney said herself in interviews that Bobby didn't turn her into anything.

    How about that.

    Fin.

  51. Vicky

    Chrysler 300 – Looks like a Bentley but isn't!

  52. lol, perfect.

  53. NurseJilly

    Tell her again Vicky!!

  54. yes, ONLY blame others for what happened to a GROWN woman – 5 years older and about 50 times RICHER than her abuser. bobby was no doubt abusive. he doesn't get an excuse for that.

who the f*ck marries bobby 'hump the stage' brown? she had ALL those men – and maybe women – to choose from and she chose him? give it a rest.

she made a career move, it helped her in some ways, hurt her in others, and who know what other demons she was trying to smoke and snow out of her brain. they weren't all bobby.

someone's not quite ready for their grown up pants, lol

  55. MistaHarsh

and if you didn't smoke and you're boyfriend who once had a rollathon with Method Man himself passed you a blunt its HIS fault that you now turn tricks for weed?

What happened to freedom of choice as an adult?

If you start to adapt the flaws of your partner you must question your own resolve/composition before you can question his bad influence.

  56. Vicky

    with pleasure! ;)

  57. MzDebbieFields

Oh stop that! now you're just being over the top!

  58. MzDebbieFields

You're crazy!!! Beyonce makes a lot of women feel something! Single Ladies is a classic! Irreplaceable is a classic! And she has so many more!

  59. MzDebbieFields

How is she not one of the greats??? This is BS!

  60. MzDebbieFields

    Patti who?? SMH

  61. MzDebbieFields

I think all of you are underrating Beyonce! She is in the same league as Whitney Houston!

  62. Kam

Single ladies is nothing compared to I Will Always Love You. I Want to Dance with Sombody or I Want to Run to You. So please have a seat …….> _/

  63. Vicky

    *applause*

  64. Vicky

    And your point?

  65. MzDebbieFields

    Checkmate! lol

  66. MistaHarsh

But here's what you're missing. While Whitney was found dead in a hotel room partying with Ray J, Bobby was Performing with New Edition on the other side of the country and they've been divorced for years.

It would seem like Bobby is turning his life around while Whitney was still struggling. How many years removed does Bobby have to be before Whitney is allowed to be responsible for her actions?

  67. cynicaloptmst81

There's a reason "Listen" didn't do as well as "And I Am Telling You"…

Beyonce can do ballads well but its not her real strength…dance music is. Nothing wrong with that. Jennifer (though she is a repeat offender when it comes to oversinging) is at her best with ballads…as Whitney was. The awesome thing about Whitney that makes her above and beyond Beyonce singing-wise is that Whitney had a way of making her Dance songs flow like ballads…so she was strong at both. She could do it all (vocally). Beyonce is a great talent. Whitney was the voice of a generation.

  68. MistaHarsh

We weren't there. Nor were we there when she died. Do you know who else wasn't there? If you guessed Bobby you are correct.

And if Bobby was such a destructive character why hasn't he destructed himself? He's still perfroming his hits. Don't be Cruel Kizzy

  69. MistaHarsh

Come on Don't be cruel, tendi Kizzy. It was Whitney's perrogative to take drugs every little step of the way. Now we're left to bicker about what happen on our own. Swoop swoop now, its not right but its ok.

  70. Vicky

    roll-a-thon with Method Man! LMAO!!!!!

  71. Vicky

Creative response MistaHarsh! Love the song plugs!

  72. MistaHarsh

don't bother there's a generation gap. Its like arguing who has more swag LL or Soulja boy

  73. MistaHarsh

what are you talking about. that is rubbish!

  74. MistaHarsh

  76. Candice

    LOL +1

  77. Pe.Riche.

    "No, Bey would oversing Whitney."

Exactly! Just because someone screams every damn thing they sing doesn't make them a good singer. In fact, it makes them more inferior because they cannot control their breath or tonality.

  78. Pe.Riche.

You're right, because Beyonce makes me feel disappointed.

  79. Kam

    LOL I can't with you

  80. RipWhitney

Ummmmmmm hold up! How dare you people bring up beyonces name in a Whitney post! I'm shocked! Lmfao! Really?

  81. TJay

Rasssss…I just died a thousand deaths.

  82. RIpWhitney

Listen, we don't have to be FORCED to do anything in life. Influence alone is a bitch. So just because he didn't force her doesn't justify the fact that he introduced her to that kind of a lifestyle. He was her husband and that was her biggest downfall!

  83. RIpWhitney

It's easier for you to say that. All that talk is cheap. When people find themselves crazy in love it's dangerous. It almost blurs your vision and taints your knowledge of what's right and wrong. ANY woman whose been crazy in love can understand why Whitney was influenced by Bobby. His love was toxic.

  84. imakesense

How did I know. This really isn't even necessary.

Celebrity deaths: the perfect time for pretentious people to state their so called perceived "out of the norm", "borderline controversial" opinions instead of just respecting the difficult time all parties affected by her death are experiencing and letting her rest in peace.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston, your talent, beauty and grace will be deeply missed. May you rest in perfect peace:(:(

  94. Tam

Beyonce has become a better singer over time but she really needs to let her voice be more natural when singing. No one can ever come close to Ms. Whitney Elizabeth Houston ever. Hands down the woman was an amazing singer. No bells and whistles for her to perform.

  95. monique

Emotional trauma unlike physical can last way past the occurance. People respond differently to incidents and recover at different paces, so no one can say what the proper timeframe for healing should be for that person. The goal is that you recover and assume responsibility for your actions
