2012 NFL Week Six Review: The FALCONS Are The BEST Team In The NFL?!

And then there was one. After this Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons are the ONLY undefeated team left in the NFL, which typically represents that they are currently the BEST team in the league as well. BUT, after beating the Raiders on a last-second field goal in a 3-turnover game that they could have EASILY lost, it’s clear that the Falcons are definitely BEATABLE. And in a week with so-many UPSETS and close finishes, can we even state that there definitely IS a “Best” team in the NFL right now, or is it too soon to tell?

1) SORRY ATLANTA, BUT I’VE SEEN THIS SHOW BEFORE

I TRULY want to hop on the Falcons bandwagon because I LOVE How that team has been put together, the fact that they are extremely talented and Matt Ryan is clutch as hell, but the Falcons now officially have ‘Lebron Pressure’ – having to show that you can win when games REALLY matter, in the playoffs. I’ve seen Atlanta go 14-2 and lose in their first game, so I am UNABLE to get hype off these early wins. Just like Peyton before he won his first ring, do it when it’s ALL on the line, and THEN I will give you the props you deserve.

2) RAVENS FANS – THIS MIGHT BE THE END

Although the Ravens pulled off another close win this week after beating the Dallas Cowboys 31-29 on a missed field goal at the end of the game, the Ravens also LOST big by potentially losing their star corner Ladarius Webb, as well as their heart-and-soul Ray Lewis for the season. Add to that the fact that they are already playing without Terrell Suggs, and the already-somewhat soft Ravens D is looking FAR from Super Bowl-esqe. As much as I predicted the Ravens would win the Super Bowl, it’s time for me and other Baltimore fans to prepare ourselves for the WORST.

3) PATRIOTS NEED TO GET IT TOGETHER ASAP

Sorry New England fans, but y’all STAY dropping games you SHOULD be winning, and IF you keep doing that this is gonna be a LONG season. The playoffs have been a regular staple for the Pats, but now that the entire AFC East is tired at 3-3 (yes including the damn Bills and Dolphins), Brady & Belichick need to get it together ASAP before things get out of control.

4) DON’T COUNT OUT THE PACKERS YET

Aaron Rodgers showed last night that he still is the best QB in the NFL after passing for six touchdowns on an EXTREMELY talented Houston Texans D (granted without Cushing). The NFC is STILL wide-open, so even though the Packers have experienced some tough losses, they aren’t OUT yet.

5) IT’S TIME FOR ALEX SMITH TO STEP UP

After losing to the Giants (well, more like getting their asses kicked), the Niners exposed their inability to produce A LOT of offence when they are behind in games. They couldn’t beat the Vikings after dropping behind, and they DEFINITELY couldn’t overcome a lead against the Giants which has proved a terrible truth: Alex Smith NEEDS to progress to the point where he doesn’t just manage the game – he can LEAD them back and WIN games if need be.

6) RG3’S SEASON SO FAR >>> CAM NEWTON’S ROOKIE SEASON LAST YEAR

After leading the Redskins to ANOTHER huge win over the surprising Minnesota Vikings, I must say that Robert’s current rookie season is actually outdoing Cam’s season from last year. And the reason I compare him to Cam is not because they are both young, Black, mobile QB’s – it’s because I think Cam Newton had the most impressive QB rookie season in NFL history last year. He put up HUGE numbers on the ground and through the air and broke a BUNCH of NFL records – BUT, he couldn’t WIN. THAT’S what makes RG3 SO special.

7) DALLAS GOT PROBLEMS – BUT I DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE

Oh he mad..

I got a few friends who are Cowboys fans, and as a Raiders fan (who hasn’t experienced a winning season in a decade) I would NEVER trade places with ANY of them. See, I KNOW why my team loses, whether it’s our lack of a good head coach, lack of talent and generally undisciplined play. All things that obviously NEED to be fixed. But the Cowboys constantly confuse me with their ineptitude. They are an EXTREMELY talented, well-coached, deep and athletic football team full of pro-bowlers on both sides of the ball – yet, they can’t put it together. I honestly have NO clue why they keep losing, but someone needs to find out what it is ASAP.

Monday Night Football Prediction: {Current Record 4-2}

- I got the San Diego Chargers beating the Broncos in a UGLY and terrible game by BOTH teams.

Ladies & Gentlemen, What Are YOUR THoughts On Week Six In The NFL? How Did YOUR Team Play?

    1. My superbowl pick & I am sticking with it. The 49ers, got their teeth kicked in by the G-Men, and I am happy. The Giants do not get enough respect & they are the class of the NFC, regardless of record.

    2. I am with you on the Atlanta Falcons. I like their offense, probably the best talented offense with chemistry. Also, i they get home field advantage throughout the playoffs, that helps also. But when teams like the 49ers, Giants, Cardinals, or the Bears that get FILM on these guys, how will they respond. That is why teams sputter out in the playoffs.

Another thing, they have to pray to the football GODs to stay healthy or even get healthy around playoff time. That was a BIG reason why the Giants & Patriots when to the SB last year.

    3. Just like Derek Jeter going down, it feels so weird to see the Pats lose close games. All their Superbowl wins were by 3 points, winning field goals.

Yeah I don't know what the hell is going on in New England. They are losing to weird teams in weird games.

Alex Smith threw up a hissy fit when his coach was flirting with Peyton Manning in the offseason. This last game proved why. You lose close at home with a vaunted defense, not get beat down.

Jerry Jones needs to let smart people run the Cowboys, he is Al Davis re-incarnated. Leave it to the professional. Stick to oil companies. He loves the Cowboys too much, clouds judgement when drafting & hiring puppet coaches.

      Agree with Jerry Jones comment.

    On RGIII

This kid is soooooo bright & so talented. Even though I am bandwagoning for the Jets to get to the SB this year ;-), the Redskins might be my team for the next 10 years. RG3 has a chance to be the GREATEST QB ever. So, all I ask for him is to take less hits, keep working extremely hard & I hope he has excellent coaching. Go Redskins

He definitely needs to learn to be more careful.

  5. Robert Johnson

I'm not believing the Atlanta Falcons hype but I could be wrong. RG3 is something special, no doubt about that. Really mad the Packers are getting on a groove because my Rams play them on Sunday. I dislike the Patriots (hate is a strong word) but why did they have to lose to Seattle of all teams?

End of an era in Baltimore, but they'll be okay. They seem to make good draft picks and will be able to continue to have a good defense in the future.

Rams lost a winnable game yesterday. Greg "Young G.Z.", "Legatron", "Greg the Leg" Zuerlein missed his first 2 FGs of the season that could have helped but its a young team and they'll learn how to win these games

That kid is gonna be your Vinatieri for the next 10 years.

1.No one is mentioning the 3 toss ups Matty Mice threw(you couldn't be responsible and take the sack?) No one is mentioning the close games won(by almost luck) against sub par teams?

These guys are the most overrated undefeated team in the league. they're off next week and face PHI and DAL lets see how they play then.

    3. How 'bout those Seahawks? Best spoiler team EVER

    5. 49ers NEED to learn how to use Moss they're too conservative on offense, maybe intentionally to hide Alex Smith's weaknesses. Like I said the Giants will always be SB contenders they just have that heart and Eli is a beast in the clutch.

      10/15/2012 at 4:21 PM

Agreed on Moss. What the hell was up with them throwing one deep pass to him and then just ignoring him? The Giants corners can't guard him.

    6. I don't know why but RGIII reminds me of Randall Cunningham. But you can't knock Cam. Remember the Redskins were a decent team before RGIII going 5-11 in the hardest dvision in the NFL. Prior to Cam Carolina was 2-14 and went 6-10 with him most of the games he had to score 30+ to win because their defense was atrocious. Griffin doesn't have that pressure.

    7. Simple answer Romo. How many chances will they give this guy. Funny how with all the pieces and weapons they have on offense and defense people never see him as the deciding factor but on a team where there's virtually no weapons on offense and defense they attack the QB for losing games( a la Cam Newton).

      10/15/2012 at 4:26 PM

It's hard to blame Romo though. For example. If Miles Austin catches that pass last year that he "lost in the lights", the Boys win and the Giants miss the playoffs and who knows who wins the Super Bowl. If Dez catches that 2 point conversion OR if the kicker makes the field goal, the Cowboys win and we aren't talking about Tony at all today.
